This talk presents an overview of Universiti Malaya (UM) as Malaysia’s premier research university, highlighting its academic strengths, global outlook, and diverse opportunities for postgraduate studies. Emphasis will be placed on UM’s supportive research ecosystem, interdisciplinary collaborations, and pathways for international students to engage in impactful research.
The presentation will also introduce my research journey in the development of hydroxyapatite-based materials for dental applications, focusing on their biocompatibility, regenerative potential, and relevance in modern restorative dentistry. Building on this foundation, the talk will further explore our current collaborative work with Dr. Wu Hongrun at Minnan Normal University, which centers on the development of an AI-enabled intraoral scanner. This initiative integrates advanced imaging, artificial intelligence, and dental diagnostics to enhance precision, efficiency, and clinical outcomes.
Through this sharing, the session aims to foster academic exchange, highlight collaborative research opportunities between Universiti Malaya and Minnan Normal University, and inspire future postgraduate engagement in cutting-edge dental innovation.
